Sentronics put some of their top cameras to the test

Sentronics and 3 other security vendors were invited to take part in an event arranged by CCTV in Focus at Monaghan Farm near Lanseria, to put their security equipment to the test.

The event provided Sentronics with an opportunity to showcase some of our latest technology and verify the capabilities of these devices. Cameras perform differently under certain test criteria, and it is a good way to position our products not only with regards to performance, but also relative to pricing for that particular product.

We observed some very favourable results from our cameras and were pleased with the performance especially in the low light conditions. The Rotakin testing system provides more than a camera testing tool, as any full system’s weaknesses can be exposed and thereby corrected. As a supplier we are always faced with System Integrators claiming equipment faults or non-performance, when in fact it is a question of the equipment being installed in the incorrect manner. With the Rotakin system we can ensure that it is not our equipment to blame, and ensure that the equipment we sell is fit for the customer’s purpose. These tests also provide the End User client peace of mind that the equipment they have spent valuable money on is functioning at optimum capacity.”

The industry is currently focused on HD and Megapixel technology and our choice of equipment for the tests were focused on this as well:
  • Pelco IXE20DN, 2MP day/night camera
  • VIVOTEK IP8151, 1.3MP day/night camera
  • VIVOTEK IP8362, 2MP IR Bullet camera and
  • VIVOTEK IP8161, 2MP day/night camera

We were very pleased with all our cameras low light capabilities under IR lighting conditions, specifically the Pelco Sarix, and then the Vivotek’s overall colour reproduction and clarity of image was very impressive. Pelco’s Megapixel technology is approximately 3 years old now, with their new HD Surevision range being due for release next year.

We look forward to putting this new range through its paces in 2012.

What do we see for the future?

We have seen a growing request for intelligent video solutions and Open platform solutions. The market seems to be looking very hard at the benefits of analytics coupled with the quality of HD video quality, and then “Edge Recording”.
